Die Zigarrengalaxie (M 82 oder NGC 3034) ist eine Spiralgalaxie mit einer scheinbaren Helligkeit von 8.6 mag und befindet sich im Sternbild Grosser B\u00e4r. Sie ist gravitativ an die etwas gr\u00f6ssere Galaxie M 82 gebunden und bildet mit dieser zusammen den Kern der M 81-Galaxiengruppe.<\/p>\n

Sie ist etwa 12 Millionen Lichtjahre von uns entfernt. Vor etwa 500 Millionen Jahren flog sie nahe an M 81 vorbei, dabei hat sich die Galaxie stark ver\u00e4ndert. Im inneren Bereich sich die Rate mit der neue Sterne aus interstellarer Materie entstehen stark erh\u00f6ht. Dadurch ist M 82 eine der hellsten Infrarotgalaxien und eine der hellsten Galaxien im Radiobereich. Durch diverse Supernovaexplosionen entstand eine turbulente Gasbewegung, die als Ausstr\u00f6mung senkrecht zur Galaxienebene zu beobachten ist.<\/p>\n
